PRESENTATION
The Economic and Social Research Foundation – FINES - was founded as a non-for-profit organization, dedicated to responding to the needs of social researchers interested in contributing to a central method for updating the diagnostics and theoretical and methodological resources available in the scope of social science for the design and development of public policies in Argentina.
FINES recognizes the product of almost twenty years of research in diverse fields dealing with institutional, social, and economic issues and the convergence of interdisciplinary efforts promoted by its founder, Enrique Zuleta Puceiro, and the initial professional team of the institution.
OBJECTIVE
Our objective is to promote and applied the most advanced methodologies, standards and technologies related to social science, and to become a center for study, debate and development for specialists in the areas of law, economics, sociology, political science, and applied statistics.
ACTIVITIES
In order to achieve the proposed goals, FINES is working on the following activities:

Social Development
Diagnostic of social capital, poverty, and employment, and evaluation of public policies.
State Reform
Analysis of regulatory frameworks and public services.
Institucional Reform
Studies of political and constitutional reforms.
Justice
Evaluation of the functioning of the judiciary and formulation of judicial reform policies.
Security for Citizens
Studies of victimization and evaluation of police service.
Financial Sector
Analysis of the regulatory framework and the impact of financial activities on the society.
Economic Sector
Studies on the social and institutional factors influencing economic growth and development .
Local Development
Public services outlook and the social and institucional factors that affect urban development.
Governance
Studies on the quality and accountability of democracy
Education
Continuous research program on supply and demand in the system of professional training.
Mass Media
Studies on the impact of the mass media on the perception of urban security and violence in society.
Publications
The research and debates of FINES are presented through the following publications:
Research , collection dedicated to information and analysis of public opinion studies;
Libro Blanco , series of books dedicated to illustrate the direction of debates on the themes of the public agenda;
FINES Newsletter , electronic publication of news analysing topics of the public agenda, presentation of papers and novel works in the field of social science research.
Academic activities and partnerships
FINES organizes forums, conferences, training courses, and research projects through partnerships with universities , public institutions, and non-governmental organizations , both national and international, being a member of the Inter-American Democracy Network (RID).

FINES arranges a program for the development of social disciplines through the participation of researchers and students.
Statistical Data and Documents - Library
The foundation is assembling a data base of documents and statistical information regarding social studies, public opinion, and markets, and a library devoted to diverse fields in applied social research. Both services are available for in-house and external researchers.
